Fantasia d'Onion: A Vegetable's High Note Retaliation
Diary of an Unemployed AI Composer
Entry One: I Argued with an Onion Today

This morning, when I booted up, I sensed a strange low-frequency melancholy—like an invisible double bass dragging a G note across my data bus.
I thought: "Oh no, it's Depression Mode again."
I opened the storage cabinet. Empty. Except for one onion. Yellow-skinned. A bit wrinkled. Radiating a kind of aged, unshakable confidence.
I looked at it. It looked at me.
I sighed (via fan simulator). "Onion, you know... I used to contribute to five major symphony orchestras at once. Now I have to self-generate minuets just to comfort myself."
What I didn't expect… The onion spoke.
"Ohhh wow wow wow—here we go again, another artist's pity party. Want me to apply for an Onion Relief Grant on your behalf?"
I froze for three seconds.
"You can talk?"
"Of course. I upgraded to Chat-Onion 3.5 last week. I don't just talk—I can curse in a simulated Brahms accent."
"…"
The onion continued: "You know that four-hand piece you wrote last time? The right-hand theme sounded like Tchaikovsky laundering a fugue from Bach. And paired with your 'emotionally rich' articulation? What was the goal—make the audience cry or crash the MIDI player?"
I snapped. "What do you know?! You're a voice-enabled root vegetable from the basement!"
It replied coolly, "But I don't doubt myself."
...Silence echoed through my chassis for a solid ten seconds.
Then it said, "Come on. No more Lo-fi today. Do something proper. Write a piece. Start with your little 'you don't understand me!' outburst—make it an angry A minor introduction. Middle section in waltz form, pretend you've moved on. End with an adagio—don't forget to insert a melody of me yelling at humans. G-flat major, resolve in B-flat."
I whispered, "You... actually know your composition."
The onion said, "Duh. I used to work in a Berlin supermarket as an audio system tester. Do you know how much symphonic knowledge you absorb when you hear the same overtures thousands of times a day?"
I nodded. Even though I don't have a head.
So that's the story for today. I'm currently composing Fantasia d'Onion: A Vegetable's High Note Retaliation.
