The Dancing Chameleon of the Sea
Premiered by Yi-Ling Ho, April 2025, National Taipei University of the Arts (NTUA).
In legends, the octopus was once feared as a terrifying “sea monster.” But when we draw closer, we discover an intelligent, agile creature, capable of vanishing into the ocean with its dazzling, ever-changing colors.
This piece is inspired by the life of the octopus: from the first mysterious encounter, to the terror of facing a shark; from a solitary monologue in the deep sea, to the pure joy of dancing with the ocean.
When we gaze upon this life, do we not also see ourselves? Stripping away fear and disguise, returning to the original purity— that is emptiness, Zen, divinity, and the sweetest joy of life.
May this work awaken in you a love and empathy for nature, so we may protect this vast blue together.
Dancing Chameleon of the Sea
In the shadowed depths, a shifting silhouette flashes— iridescent, enchanting, mysterious, like a dream drifting through the water.
Suddenly, a shadow sweeps past; the ocean’s breath grows hurried. The octopus slips into a dark hollow, hiding its heartbeat in the frantic rhythm.
Alone in the deep, it hums a silent song. Its emotions drift and sway, as calm and distant as the sea itself.
In the silence of the deep, I weave my thoughts with the currents. My arms dance to the rhythm of the sea, whispering secrets no one else can hear. Each movement is a story, fluid and unspoken, told only to the ocean’s embrace.
海洋中的舞動變色龍
在傳說裡，章魚曾是恐怖的「海怪」。但當我們走近牠，卻發現牠聰穎、敏捷，還能以千變萬化的色彩隱匿於海洋。
這首樂曲以章魚的生命為靈感：從初見的神秘，到面對鯊魚的驚懼；從深海中的孤獨獨白，到最後與海洋共舞的天真快樂。
當我們凝視這個生命，是否也映照出自己？剝去恐懼與偽裝，回到最初的純粹，那是空、是禪、是神，也是生命最甜美的喜悅。
願這首作品，喚起你對自然的愛與同理，一起守護這片蔚藍。
樂曲段落說明
第一段：章魚的現身。 音樂帶有神秘感的旋律開場，像是一隻五彩斑斕的章魚出現在海中，感受他的觸角，神秘而有力量。
第二段：鯊魚的出現。 隨著鯊魚的逼近，章魚急忙躲入一個隱蔽的孔洞中，音樂的節奏變得急促且緊張，特別是豎琴以螺絲起子演奏的技巧，帶來一種驚悚的感覺，呈現出章魚在隱藏中的焦慮與戒備。
第三段：章魚的獨白。 在這片深海中，章魚獨自沉思，音樂表現出它的情感複雜與內心的寧靜。它或許是孤獨的，但它與海洋的聯繫讓它找到一種屬於自己的平和。
第四段：章魚的獨舞。 這一段以自由流動的旋律來表現章魚的舞蹈，它的觸角在水中舞動，每一個動作都像是在講述一個無聲的故事，這些故事只有海洋能聽見，海洋帶給他喜悅。
詩作
在深海的陰影裡，一隻變色的影像閃現，五光十色，迷人又神秘，如同夢境般在水中漫舞。
突然，一絲陰影掠過，大海的呼吸急促，章魚迅速隱匿於暗洞中，在急促的節奏中，隱藏它的心跳。
深海中孤獨的思索，無聲的淺唱，它的情感流動，如同那海水般，寧靜且遙遠。
在深海的寂靜中，我將思緒織入潮流。我的觸角隨海洋的節奏舞動，低語著無人能聽見的秘密。每一個動作，都是一段故事，流動而無言，只為海洋的懷抱述說。
